Where Should I Go On My Golf Vacation?
How to Hit a Hole-in-One When Choosing your Golf Vacation Destination
When planning your golf vacation, you should begin by clearly identifying the goals that you have associated with such a journey. Yes, we know... golfing, of course! But dig a little deeper and you might be pleasantly surprised to realize that you actually have a large number of choices when it comes to golfing vacations. Here are just a few questions to ask yourself in determining the golfing destination that will best suit your plans.
Do I simply want to golf as many rounds as possible or do I want a balance of time spent golfing and time spent doing other things with my traveling companions? If I don't mind some down time from being on the golf course, what attractions do I want to have access to in the surrounding area and/or maybe even associated with the course facilities…a spa, perhaps?
Do I want the focus of my trip to be a learning experience whereby a substantial amount of my vacation time is spent on the course in a lesson format?
If I want my vacation to be focused on golf lessons, do I want private ones or is a group setting acceptable? If I don't mind taking golf lessons with a group, is their a special package available that might save me some money, yet still help me meet my golfing objectives?
Again, if lessons are my priority, is their a certain golf instructor that I've always wanted to learn from? If so, on what course and what time of the year can I meet with this particular golf coach?
Is my main objective to travel to a golf course that I've always dreamed about playing on…even one that's out of the country? If so, is there a better time for me to schedule my trip, whether from a seasonal standpoint and/or maybe even a golfing tournament, either nearby or on the course associated with my vacation, that's taking place during my trip and that would allow me to enjoy both playing and watching golf?
Do I want to play at some of the top rated golf courses? If so, are some of these courses only open to the general-public and/or non-members during certain times of the year?
Will I be traveling with people who aren't interested in golfing (yes…such people really do exist)? If so, what nearby and/or onsite attractions are there to help them enjoy their vacation?
Is money the driving force of my golf vacation? If I need to make this journey as economical as possible, what special rates, packages, etc are available that will still allow me to meet my other golfing objectives, as well as those of my fellow travelers, without taking away from the overall experience?
Give some thought to how you'd describe your "perfect" golf vacation. Believe it or not, there's more than one way to have fun on a golf course, just like there's more than one way to hit a hole-in-one.
